The Area

Our local area is probably one of Wales’ best kept secrets. Unspoilt mountain scenery with rushing streams, quiet forests and abundant wildlife, roads virtually devoid of traffic. The pace of life is a little like stepping back in time, quiet and peaceful.

Llanwrtyd Wells is the smallest town in Great Britain and sits astride the River Irfon in the picturesque Irfon Valley. It is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with lovely walks and cycle rides. The Elan Valley with its lakes is also close by.

Whether you enjoy bird-watching, cycling, fishing, rambling, riding, touring or just being “at one” with nature, this area will not disappoint you.

Bird watching

Llanwrtyd Wells is famous as one of the main areas where you can see the red kite, but there are many other species to see in the nearby Gwenffrwd Dinas RSPB reserve.

Cycling

We're right next door to Cycles Irfon if you want to hire a bike, or bring your own and explore the world-renowned mountain biking in the surrounding area.

Fishing

The area around Llanwrtyd Wells has legendary fishing for salmon and trout on the Wye, the Usk, and their numerous tributaries.

Riding and pony trekking

Ffos Farm Riding Stables is five minutes away for those wishing to hack across the hills.
